The photo also shows a cutter with the shank diameter the same as the cutting diameter. It IS, however, 1/4" shank. I use it on a smallish CNC router with a 2hp spindle and it's worked quite well. In soft plastics like ABS I initially had the chip winding around the shank, melting and make a truly horrible cut. Unfortunately, we have not carefully looked at the bit when it arrived (ordered on May 23, 2019), hence it is too late to return it or exchange it. It took the teacher a while to find time for the project I wanted done (we had the summer off, traveling, etc.). Yesterday, he realized that the bit is no good. The bit has not been used (and the shop teacher tells me that is obvious).
