Zoysia Plugs come as 100 individually grown, mature-rooted grass plugs that ship dormant in winter months. ## Description

100% healthy and ready to plant in your lawn. This grass will spread 6" inches to a foot in each direction per growing season depending on your location. Planting is easy. Just use a hand trowel or plugging tool to dig a small hole every 1 ft in your yard. Put in a plug, pack with dirt, and give it a good watering and you are done! Plugs will take root within 7-10 days during the growing season. Keep the area mowed short (1.5"-2" inches) to promote lateral growth and discourage weeds.

Review: New lawn in 1 year with zoysia plugs!!! - I ordered 100 plugs in March 2025 and planted them with basically no prep—just regular watering to help them establish. I was skeptical they’d make much of a difference, but it seemed worth trying instead of spending a crazy amount on sod that would require heavy prep work and constant babying. Now it’s May 2026, and I am SO glad I took the chance on these. The growth has been astounding. Being patient for a year and going with the lower price point was absolutely the right decision. All of my plugs arrived healthy, rooted well, and had no issues establishing—even though I waited a couple of days after delivery before planting them. I planted them willy nilly using a bulb planter and didn’t amend the soil at all. Before the death of my lawn due to a back patio tear-down and rebuild, a brutal late-summer/fall drought, grubs, and heavy dog traffic, I had a healthy St. Augustine lawn so I knew I didn’t have soil issues. The zoysia is noticeably darker, softer, and lusher than the St. Augustine. You can literally see the line on the back slope where the two grasses meet. The zoysia has also held up incredibly well to my dogs and the wear they put on the yard. I’m in central Mississippi, so our summers are extremely hot, sunny, and humid. The zoysia is already starting to spread into the remaining St. Augustine, and I’m hoping it eventually overtakes it as I continue mowing at the lower zoysia height. We’ve also had a colder spring than normal so I’m sure it’ll just keep getting better the further into our growing season. The only treatments I’ve used were a one-time application this spring of grub treatment, soil conditioner, gypsum, and Milorganite to help with the compacted soil after the yard had been bare. I would absolutely do this again and am honestly considering ordering another box to help fill in a few remaining bare spots and speed up the takeover from the St. Augustine. If you don’t want to risk the expense of full sod installation—or deal with all the prep work and maintenance that comes with it—and you’re willing to be patient, I definitely recommend these zoysia plugs.

**Q: Q: can i plant it now in south carolina? do i need to dig small holes to lay these down in the ground**
A: I recently purchased a tray of zorsia grass plugs for my lawn in Central Alabama. These plugs are individually grown and had an incredible root structure, with lush green blades. The roots are approximately 2" by 2". I used a round plugger that makes an exact 2" hole, so the plugs exactly fit. After 1 month and horrible heat and drought, i have not lost any of the plugs. Follow the instructions on watering. Zenith is a broader bladed zorsia, very different from Emerald, but similar to Z51 or St Augustine.

**Q: What type of zoysia is this? is it meyer?**
A: The description now (March 2023) states it’s Japonica.

**Q: what size is each plug ?**
A: You can purchase two different sizes 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 or a 3x3 plug . I recommend the 3x3 pkugs
