He and a friend had been sharing a locker and were using a key style lock. Needless to say, my son lost his key and was locked out of the locker. The only time he could access his books and supplies is when the other boy was around to let him use his key. I told my son to ask his friend if a combination lock would be ok, but he hesitated because he didn't like the dial type locks that they normally use in school. So I found these that are 4 digits and have easy to read numbers on them. A major plus is that the boys could both decide upon a combination that was easy to remember and set the lock themselves. When you first get the lock, the combination is set to all zeros, once you decide on a new number all you have to do is open the lock and turn the hasp 90 degrees and lock it down, then you simply set whatever 4 digit number you want and close the lock. Now the combination is set. It feels like it is made well and should hold up great for basic use of securing your belongings. I got this mainly for use on a locker at the gym and at work. The case feels solid. The number dials move easily but do not seem to have too much play in them. I like how you can create your own 4 digit code. It’s preset at 0000 and is super easy to change to your own. You can change the combination as many times as you like as long as you don’t forget what you set it to. It comes with a little instruction sheet on how to set your own combo.
