I shake inhaler well for about 15 seconds. Then I insert the inhaler (fits perfectly into the back of aerokat chamber). I keep the inhaler pressed tightly into the chamber by keeping my palm pressed against the back of it. Then I depress (1) puff of the medication directly into the chamber (it will stay in the chamber a few seconds and the chamber will slightly cloud up). Then I immediately apply the aerokat with mask attached to my cats face and the flap will start moving back and forth. After 7-10 breaths, it's done and I remove the mask. I find this way works better because my cat is much more calmer and accepts the treatment better than if I depress the inhaler after putting the mask on my cats face. I think the sound it makes when you depress it scares the cat and he tenses up. **Q: Anyone know where i can get an "unmedicated" inhaler to use as practice and get my cat used to the air sound before actually using the medicine?** A: I don’t really see why you would need an actual inhaler to practice putting the mask on your fuzzy little friend. He tolerates the Aerokat more than my kisses on his face ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Très efficace mais cher *by M***C on 23 January 2026* Excellent cher mais efficace je peut compter les respirations de mon chat et j’utilise le plus gros des deux embout ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Très utile *by M***. on 23 October 2019* Suite à un diagnostic d’asthme félin ma chatte a du avoir des inhalations de fluticasone, ma vétérinaire m’a dans un premier temps orienté vers un masque pour bébé puisque moins cher... oui sauf que le plus petit masque existant était déjà 2 fois bien trop grand pour mon chat, cela lui recouvrant tout le visage. J’ai donc investi dans l’aérokat assez rapidement, je ne le regrette pas. Mes conseils pour habituer votre chat : - dans un premier temps commencez à présentez l’embout en silicone à votre chat, juste le présenter rien d’autre. - au bout de quelques jours commencez à lui mettre sur le museau (je répète, uniquement l’embout seul) pendant plusieurs secondes sans le forcer... augmentez petit à petit le temps jusqu’à arriver à environ 20 secondes. Si votre chat aime les friandises récompensez-le juste après. - par la suite présentez l’aérokat complet mais sans le médicament inséré, laissez votre chat respirer pendant les 20 secondes, encore une fois récompensez le à votre façon (friandises, caresses, félicitations...) - une fois que votre chat sera à l’aise avec l’appareil vous pouvez commencer vraiment le traitement en insérant le médicament à la fente prévue à cet effet. Votre chat risque d’être surpris par le bruit du « pssscht » délivré dans la chambre, si c’est le cas rassurez le tout simplement. Si votre chat en a assez avant que le nombre d’inhalations soit réalisé laissez le et recommencez plus tard. En ayant suivi ce protocole vous ne devriez normalement pas besoin d’avoir recours à la « contention » de votre chat lors de séances d’inhalation.
