It does a decent job of protecting your hands for minor slippage of tools. Its not good for a sharp pointy thing like an awl. but it does work for edges like a knife or a chisel. Within reason.... I use them for wood craft. And it does a decent job for me. But I would not recommend it for cutting meat of fish. The fabric looks like it will hold a smell over time. That's my guess, so decide for yourself.
