It does benefit from the cool weather, though, as that's when it produces the most sugar and tastes the best. **Q: have these cuttings produced roots yet? Are they ready to be planted in the ground or do they need to be put in a rooting mix first?** A: No, cuttings don't have roots. We don't put in any rooting mix, but we have awesome soil, and we cannot speak on your behalf. We do hear some people did not have the success, not sure how they root the cuttings. When it arrived, a fourth cutting was in here, I guess as insurance. Well, all four cuttings are rooting well, I’m happy to say. Looks like I shall have a Purple Tree Collard forest! (Actually, I plan to rehome my spares.) They seem like strong starts, and continue to thrive, even after their first up potting. Also challenging me that they sent five when I only received three which is also listed on my invoice.I still hope the collard tree springs back and if not I’ll try again elsewhere.
