I swim with it. I've had two of them and wear them 24/7 in shower, pool, ocean. Even did a half Ironman wearing it. The gold wore off long before the water impacted the watch functionality.

does the watch have military time? (24hr vs 12hr)

Yes it does. I have accidentally turned mine to military time and now cannot figure out how to switch it back.
