The bilateral support encourages straighter posture and consistent balance. The almost instant security promotes a desire to take longer straighter steps. The "cross crawl" activity promotes coordination and brain recovery, unavailable while using a cane , walker, or slow unassisted walking, especially if one is experiencing balance difficulties. These should be a major part of all physical therapy facilities, and oddly they are not. I have Parkinson's disease and therefore can be a little unsteady at times, but with my Exerstriders I am now walking 2 miles a day, 5 times a week. They help me keep my balance, burn more calories and get a full body workout. I am losing weight slowly but surely, with diet and Exerstriding.
