I prepped and painted them all the same. I used the first can on 2, and the second can on the remaining 2. COMPLETELY different finish between the 2 sets. One set is a beautiful satin finish and the other set is much closer to a gloss finish. Either would be fine for my application, but they are not anywhere close to matching. I will have to wait 5 days for them yo cure, scuff them again, and use another can to spray them to match. Now, i have to purchase the 3rd can and have no idea what the final finish will be, coming out of the can. Also, there is quite a lag from the point where you depress the spray button and the point where it actually stops spraying. It slowly peters out, often spitting globs of paint on your wheels. I dont know how it will hold up. Ive spray painted a lot of stuff in my time, and these cans were the most expensive and most mediocre product line Ive used. If you skip primer, you have to degrease and clean the entire wheel in soap and water, then wet sand the entire surface to get through the clear coat or acrylic barrier in the paint layer, 800-2000 grit until the entire rim looks hazy when you wipe it dry. Then clean it with isopropyl alcohol, and use air to blow any remaining fibers or debris away from the wheel. All your coats must be 5-30 minutes apart, not sooner, not longer. First two coats, just lightly dust it, don't worry about coverage. Next coat should be a light overall coat that is not wet and glossy (pull it back!). Once that tacks up a bit, then you can apply a medium wet coat, by repeating the light coat you did over and over until it STARTS to look wet and glossy. Don't keep going over a spot that already does. Let it cure untouched for 7 days. Your paint will be good. **Q: Will this match well for 2014 BMW painted alloy wheels?** A: I used on my 2014 BMW 528i Rims, I also uses the clearcoat to protect is from scratching easily, works great **Q: How to darken this color?** A: It’s just like the top of the can but when u put it on it looks darker once it dries it the same color as top of the can but I don’t recommend this paint it ran like a mother ducker have to re paint everything I painted with it smh **Q: Does anyone know how many cans I need for a set of four wheels?** A: I would order 5 cans just to be safe. More than likely you could get away with as few as 3 cans. But you don’t want to run out halfway through. Of course rim size and design will affect this as well. I was painting up 18” bbs RC rims.
