I spent hundreds on Rid kits for BOTH houses and still they kept coming back. Finally I ordered the family size kit of Clearlice no one else in my household was ever infested, and I sent the rest of the Rid kits to the mom's house so they could treat and retreat in 4 days, but one treatment of Clearlice did the trick in my house. It was tedious - you put it on, wait 50 minutes, rinse, put on more shampoo, wait 30 minutes and rinse, put on more shampoo, wait 15 minutes and rinse, and then put on the conditioner and use the nit comb a tiny section at a time. I made sure to have it on my head while I treated her so any transference of bugs would be taken care of also, and it took me two hours to comb out her short hair. A week later when she came home I followed up with just conditioner and another comb-out just in case but all I got were some apparently non-viable nits. We are now about 2 months lice free for the first time in about 8 months and I can breath a sigh of relief. (I should note that the mom moved at the same time and the neighbor girl by her house also had her head treated, so while this took care of the issue on my granddaughter, it also took everyone in the other household and all playmates at the other household going through multiple Rid treatments AND moving to a new location!) Note: The mom says hair dye also kills head lice and she got rid of hers by dying her hair and shaving her boyfriend's head. The product itself is great and does what I needed it to do. The shower caps are a joke. They might fit a small child's head that has very short hair. Also, in the jumbo pack which is meant to treat 6 people, they only included 4 caps. I had to purchase shower caps separately. They really should include more nit combs also.
