To answer your question though would be 3", that is how wide the space is for the car/trains to move along in. There is enough space for one Monster Truck at a time, two regular Hot Wheel cars can fit side by side, two trains for train boards can fit side by side. One of the better toys I've purchased, had about a year now and still played with a lot. **Q: Where can I get the cars and trains that fit on this?** A: I’m not sure if there are specific cats/trains that go with it. We used the ones we already have and they work well. Even ones that are “too big” my son still puts along the tracks.
