The settings go from 1 to 3 for massage and for pumping which is also good. For me, I never need to go to 3 for pumping. As for comfort, I gave it one star because if I do not bend over making myself into a 90 degree angle while pumping I will lose my liquid gold. Perhaps the flanges need to cover more of the breast to curt tail this issue.
