If you use them for too long without cleaning, you can get an ear infection. I prolong the life of each pair by wiping them down with organic neem oil mixed with a little coconut oil every week. This kills the germs and prevents ear infection. I then use them until they gradually become so compacted they're too small and I throw them out and start with a fresh pair.
