The 10.0 is recommended for aquatic turtles as 5.0 is not strong enough. I know that this question was asked awhile ago but I don’t like seeing false information being given to people. **Q: Could I use this for a basking spot if it is right next to a radiant heat panel(using the bulb for the light and the radiant panel for the heat)?** A: The UVB light is actually best to use over the basking spot so the turtles can absorb the light. I have mine placed on top of the screen about 10 inches from the basking platform. You can use it with a radiant panel nearby. The temp of the basking place should be about 85 -90 F, and you should have a thermometer in place to monitor the temperature.
