Great value! Now my goto 3 season tarp.

*by J***E on Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2018*

First impression as unboxed:I bought this tarp as a (hopefully less bulky and lighter) summer replacement for my big 12' x 12' tarp. Looks like a nice tarp that is well-built. I have a problem with the provided stuff-sack, though. As is typical for the tarps that you get via Amazon, and I have 4, once you get the tarp out of the bag, it's never going back in there again unless your arm is a hydraulic ram. So you'll need some other way to pack or store it. Might be too long for Snake Skins, but I don't know. Right now, I'm looking at small compression sacks. (see update below)When I get it put up, I will test it's ability to shed water.UPDATE A/O 9/12/2018:This is now my go to 3 season tarp. At 13' long, it easily covers my longest hammock yet is still not heavy or bulky. One thing I learned, though, is that you have to be careful how you suspend this tarp, as you should be with any tarp. I started out with suspension lines attached to each end, so, when I tightened the lines, it stressed the tarp loops. One eventually failed, but, even though it was my error and the 90 day warranty was out, the company replaced the tarp for me. That's what I call above and beyond the call of duty.So how should you suspend the tarp? You should use a continuous ridge line UNDERNEATH the tarp. Just use paracord. You don't need any thing expensive. Tie it to two trees, and then throw the tarp over it. Then, attach the ends of the tarp to the ridgeline with Prussik knots. If you don't know what those are, then go to Youtube and search. These are binding knots that will slide back and forth along the ridgeline to adjust the tarp position but then will lock into place. Using this method, the tarp end loops are not stressed, and the tarp should last a long time.I know that some people say that putting your ridgeline under the tarp will cause friction wear due to wind motion, but that is speculation, and I know from experience that the other way is not good. I am going to suggest to RV that they include two more loops along the top of the tarp so that the suspension ridgeline can be used above the tarp instead of below it. We'll see how that goes.Update on stuff sack - I was actually able to stuff the tarp back into the stuff sack provided with the replacement tarp. As you will see below, I use snakeskins and not the stuff sack to store the tarp, but I like to know that I can use it if I want to.Other suggestions:Stakes: RV includes good aluminum ground-hog stakes, but I don't use them. They collect dirt and are hard to clean. I use the cheap round ones and just yank them out of the ground and then run the guyline loop down them to clean them. Easy-peasy! You can get those at Penis' Sporting Goods, a.k.a. Dicks, for about $.50 each or on Amazon, eBay, AliExpress, etc.Guylines: All of these tarp vendors include the same guyline material. They must buy that stuff by the ton. It's okay, but I replace it with the thinner fluorescent line sold on Amazon by ThreeBulls. When you shine a light on that stuff, it will light up like a Christmas tree, even in a brightly lit room.Guyline adjusters: I use the small tensioners sold on Amazon by LiteOutdoors. The little boogers are about $.90 each in a pack of 10, but they are worth it. They are light and strong and allow me to adjust the lines from at the tarp, or even from underneath it, and not 10 ft out at the stake end. And you probably only need 4-6 per tarp.Snakeskins: Sold on Amazon by Hennessey Hammock for less than $20 for a set of two. Fit this tarp well. By far the best way to store the tarp. Allows you to hang the tarp but not actually deploy it until necessary. Highly recommended. That should get you started! :-) If anyone needs any help and would like to email me, they can do so at the below address. It is a disposable address so that, if the spammers harvest it, I can easily delete it. I'm sure you can figure out how to modify it in order to use it. I'm not an expert but an advanced beginner and will be glad to help anyone in any way that I can.jfm-azon [at] jfm30204.e4ward.com

The 13' version IS 13' long

*by M***Y on Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2019*

Folks who are complaining about this tarp not being 13' long did not order the 'rectangular 13' option'. They ordered the 'butterfly' version. If you are smart when you make your order, you will be very pleased. My biggest concern with camping tarps is the corner stitching, which is well done on this tarp. They have double-stitched the corners and added nylon strapping as connection points. I've seen other mfg companies just stitch the connection points to the ripstop fabric, which is more likely to tear.Very happy with it so far. It's more of a car-camping tarp, as it's a bit large, but if you have a 11' or longer hammock, you will feel a bit more comfortable under this thing. The rectangle version is also a true rectangle, so hanging two hammocks under it is plausible.NOTE: I always recommend a continuous ridgeline instead of connecting to the tie-outs on the ends. This provides better overall support, especially if you plan on hanging things onto the paracord.INCLUDES: Tarp, carrying bag, 6 stakes, 6 shorter paracord guy lines, 2 medium length guy lines, and one 30' paracord option for a continuous ridgeline. They are all bright orange and reflective. Good for night visibility - not good for stealth.

This is a good rain fly, it will work for you!

*by T***Y on Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2019*

I read a lot of the reviews on this rain fly before I purchased it, and there’s a few people who were complaining about it not measuring the same as advertised on the amazon page. I had no issues with it not covering my hammock completely, it covered the entire thing. The quality of the rain fly was outstanding, it looks nice, it’s light, the guylines are perfect and the steaks that come with it are awesome. They are aluminum three blade steaks that weigh next to nothing, and are super easy to push into the ground. The material is quiet when up and doesn’t have that tarp in the wind sound, lol so to sum it up, y’all can go buy your super expensive super fancy super name brand people get paid to advertise them rain flys and I’ll buy my Roman Ventures rain fly every time, thank you for the awesome product!!
