The magnets are all you could hope for. The little split rings are pretty dumb, since the mini carabiner threads directly into the magnet just fine. For the other side you do need a key ring of some sort, but I prefer small nylon zip ties since they don’t interact with the magnets.The mini carabiner is stereotypical Chinese junk. The gate broke quickly and was not fixable.
