If you are using 3mm wire rope, then just purchase a 3mm bulldog clamp The simplex clamp is best used with 7*19 construction wire rope as it's more flexible to fit in and around the clamp. If you are using 7*7 strand I would recommend the following. If using 2mm or 3mm wire rope, then 2mm and 3mm simplex clamps are fine. If using 4mm or 5mm wire rope, then use one size larger and go with a 5mm and a 6mm simplex clamp The duplex clamp is best used with 7*19 construction wire rope as it's more flexible to fit in and around the clamp.
