My husband is a heavy handed brusher and often went through generic toothbrushes faster, as the nylon would warp. But his Gaia Guy brush looks the same as mine! It would seem that the tiny staple is fairly innocuous. Somewhat like tea bags that have a staple. From what others have said "I wouldn't worry too much about a few steel staples in my compost; I'm confident they will readily corrode and won't make any significant difference to the chemical composition of my garden, or my health (after eating the harvest). Iron oxides are already generally abundant in soil. Also another happy Gaia Guy user did some research and said, " looked into the possible negative impacts rusting metal could have on soil, and it's minimal to zero. It would have to be a lot to make any serious negative impact. And the amount is these toothbrushes (or almost any toothbrush) appears to be ok from what I've read...to toss in your composter. From what I gather, you'd have to throw a ton of them to make even a dent." I hope that helps a bit and thank you for your support. **Q: Where is it made?** A: These are made in China. However, the stock is in the USA either at Amazon or at another fulfillment center and so it ships fast. **Q: Is the bamboo sealed/finished? If so, what type of oil, resin, or sealant is used?** A: No finish on it. If it is kept dry it shouldn't need any. I have heard of some doing their own natural sealant ie beeswax. Thank you! **Q: How are the bristles attached to the handle? Manufacturers usually use clips, glue, or wire inside the toothbrush head to secure them. Thank you!** A: No glue. There is sort of like a metal staple that holds each bundle in.
