Braun does use a "cutting actions" calculation by multiplying the motor speed by the number of cutters (40,000 cutting actions for the Series 9, for example, because of its 4 cutters), so the new Series 7 by this math would have 30,000 "cutting actions," which really has no practical significance - cutting efficiency is represented by the reciprocating blades shearing the hair that pokes up through the foil or flat cutter, and is dependent on blade speed (10,000 cpm in Braun's case) and the sharpness of the blade. More cutters POTENTIALLY reduces the time required to shave - practically, not so much (because of a tremendous number of variables). Functionally, the Brauns work very well, if slightly noisier than Panasonics, and either will provide a close, comfortable shave and represent the top of the line foils. **Q: what do the 3 colored rings mean on the charger?** A: The 3 lights on the clean and charge station will be level indicators for the fluid in the station. -The Braun Team **Q: How to "clean the head" before putting it into the Station? Just rinse without opening the head? Or open it, exposing the springs & screws?** A: Rinse the shaver head in warm water, damp-dry with a towel, avoiding the foils, and pop in the station. That's it. You don't really need to do even this, but it will prolong the useful life of the cleaning solution. **Q: If I put the razor in the cleaning/charging station without turning the station on, will it charge?** A: The other answers to this question are INCORRECT and misled me into buying this razor. The only way to charge this razor is to connect to the charging port at its bottom. There are no other charging contacts, and it isn't capable of wireless charging. The cleaning station charges the razor by extending a connector that engages the razor's charge port. To do this, you HAVE to turn the cleaning station on, because the power button is also the button that physically extends that connector. Save yourself some counter space in your bathroom and just use the cable it comes with.
