The consistency of the sauce is thicker than water but not as thick as a heavy stew. The food actually tastes pretty good (yes, I tasted it out of curiosity) even if it is unseasoned. Our little guy loves it. **Q: what is the shelf life for these cans?** A: I haven't reviewed "Grandma's Chicken Soup", just Polynesian BBQ and one of the others.
