I will say that my daughter wanted to hold and handle her caterpillars but the instructions say to keep them inside the container until they form their chrysalis'. So that was a little bummer for her. However, overall a great learning experience and we'd likely do it again! You will need a mesh cage for the end of the butterfly lifecycle. **Q: How many days does it take for them to hatch from when you receive the caterpillars?** A: We received our caterpillars on the 10th and they formed their chrysalis on the 22nd. It is supposed to take 10 - 14 days from then for the butterflies to appear. So total should be around 3 - 4 weeks. From the video, you can see when the chrysalis was forming. One got killed *by M***M on 16 June 2026* Ours came with 6. They were quick to grow and did well up until it was time to release them, one of them died. They were really aggressive towards one another. We have done this 3 times with a different brand with no issues.
