## Description

Product Description Microchip Cat Flap Connect with Hub EXPLORE THE SUREFLAP RANGE Cat Flap Connect with Hub DualScan Cat Flap Microchip Cat Flap Microchip Pet Door Pet Door Connect

Review: A life saver no more being a doorman at 4am for our cat - This has been installed a couple of weeks now and it has been well worth the money. I decided to fully install it myself and just about managed with hand tools on a UPVC door, so if you aren't at all handy then you would best be hiring someone to do that for you. Setting it up with the wifi hub was straight forward but just so you are aware the hub is connected via lan cable to your router at all times so make sure you have enough ports on your router. We have our hub by the front door and the cat flap is in the back door and there's a wall and a couple of meters between them and we haven't had any connection problems. Setting up the cat's microchip was easy and posed no problems. Our cat wouldn't use the cat flap at first which is what we expected so it took a lot of coercion (treats/food) and nudging but he got there quicker than we thought he would because he is so used to us being his doormen and would just sit by a door and window and meow until we let him in but we didn't cave in as we showed him that the only way in and out is through the cat flap which meant that if he wasn't going to use it we would go outside and coerce him to use it and the same for if he wanted to leave the house. This has now meant that he has learned that he can get in and out using the cat flap on his own so now I'm not having to get up at silly o'clock to let him out. He is a stubborn cat and still after 2 weeks comes to the front door and windows but if we ignore him we'll here him clambering through the cat flap followed by a meow on the app. My only criticisms with the cat flap so far is the very slight delay in the flap opening and how strong the magnet/resistance is which means that there is a few Harry has looked out of the cat flaps before he finally goes through and on occasion it takes 2 attempts for him to go through which shows on the app as him exiting twice at the same time, so if you don't have a particularly strong cat be aware. In regards to the app it is great because you can control the cat flap functions ie in only/out only and the curfew which is why we initially purchased this cat flap. Because we have been letting our cat use the cat flap carte blanche so that he gets used to it we haven't used the curfew feature yet but will start slowly introducing it soon (hopefully it doesn't confuse him) but to be honest I'm not sure if we will need to use it at the moment because the app shows that now that he is pretty much used to it he is in during the night and doesn't go out til about 3:30am which we are ok with at the moment. The app has been great as well for these first few weeks because we have been able to see our cat's progress and we know he has been using the cat flap whereas with a traditional one we wouldn't have known that he was using it as much. The app is great because we can see how much time he spends outside and the times he goes out and comes back in and in the app as well if your cat does manage to go out/in through a door or window you can change it yourself in the app so it doesn't wreck your stats too much. And now that he is used to it we have started seeing patterns so when it comes to setting up the curfew functions we can bare them in mind. The app and cat flap function perfectly fine and the only thing that I can see at the moment that need adding is the function to change the notification sound with in the app so that it can vibrate or play a different sound other than a cat meowing. I highly recommend this product as it functions perfectly fine for my purposes and I can now get a full nights sleep.
Review: Great for peace of mind - We already had the microchip Surecare cat flap so fitting it was easy as it was one out and one in. The instructions show you step by step how to cut the hole and the dimensions required, so it would be easy enough to do if you haven't got an existing hole. The purchase was an upgrade so we can lock the cat flap at night if we're out keeping Bramble in. She knows how it works, and the fact it does a little click let's her know it's open, and it is easy for her to use, the magnet ones were too stiff for her to push whereas this one like the microchip version, has catches that drop (making the little click) and leaving the door to swing freely. The catches click back up when she's gone through. The connectivity from the hub to the catflap was easy to set up. The hub is in the living room and the catflap is two rooms away and it reaches well. There is a sold wall between them and it still reaches well. We tested it by taking the catflap upstairs before we fitted it and it still reached. I can't comment on the battery life, but if it's the same or similar to the microchip catflap it'll be fine and the red light flashes to let you know when it's time to change and there's a battery level induction the app. It's handy knowing if Bramble is in or out, we do have to remember to change the status manually of she goes out through the door though, because if we're in she'd rather stare at the door than use the flap....because she is a pampered princess! The notifications come through in a timely manner so the catflap does everything we hoped. It is a bit on the expensive side for a cat flap, but the peace of mind it gives knowing she can't get back out after 5pm is worth it and we can easily change the curfew time as the nights get lighter in the app. My husband's set it up to work with home assistant and is hoping to get it syncing with Google, but it's a bit more tricky than he thought.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does curfew mode allow the cat to enter the house after the set lock time if he’s still out?**
A: Curfew mode only via the Sure Petcare app
When using the Microchip Cat Flap Connect with the Sure Petcare app you can activate
an additional curfew mode. This mode allows you to set a lock and unlock time for
your Cat Flap, so that your cats (with outdoor access) can go outside only for a set
period of the day. At the lock time, the Cat Flap will be set to the ‘Keep inside’ locking
mode, so your cat will still be able to enter the house, but won’t be able to leave again.

**Q: I have three cats, can i still use this? Thanks**
A: This cat flap allows controls to be set up for up to 32 cats so you'll be fine with your 3 as long as each of them has a microchip. You can set up custom access for each cat which is all described in the manual that comes with the flap and it is really straightforward.

**Q: Does this require an adapter to be installed in a glass door? If so, will the existing adaptor you sell the non-connect models work with this?**
A: Yes it requires an adapter, it is the same size as the non connect model so will work with the same adapter

**Q: Is there a way to reverse curfew mode? Pets can only go out and are not allowed back in when flap is locked.**
A: Many thanks for your question.

Unlike the SureFlap Pet Door Connet, The Cat Flap Connet Does not have a reverse Curfew Mode. Please note that The Pet Door connect has the same functionality as the Cat Flap connects except that it does not have a selective exit.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best on the market, with its limitations
*by L***M on 27 September 2024*

Bought a few months ago when I needed to keep Kitten in whilst allowing Big Cat to come and go as she pleased. I am impressed by the accuracy of the flap and the way it can tell whether a cat is going in or out, the timeline on the app is very useful as it allows you to see your cat’s habits and what is going on when you are not in. Obviously it is not foolproof and can’t tell you if a cat has entered or left the house by another means, but it’s easy to tell the app if a cat does leave the house through a door etc. I like to keep my cats in at night and so the curfew function is the most helpful aspect, and can easily be changed so at the moment I am altering the times every so often as the days get shorter. The main drawback is that Big Cat can hook her claw under the flap and open it to leave even when the flap is electronically locked after curfew time. This obviously renders the curfew function much less useful. To keep her indoors at night I therefore have to use the manual lock, but that obviously requires a) me to be at home to do so and b) for both cats to have come indoors. It would be better if the flap was more robustly designed to prevent this from happening. If you have had a cat flap before it’s worth mentioning that any cats you have might take some adjusting to this one because they have to stick their heads very close to the flap for it to register their microchip and open. Big Cat age 4 took awhile to get used to this whereas Kitten doesn’t know any different. But overall I am pleased, and it is worth the peace of mind to know the cats are coming and going.
