I double soaked them to flush out blue color that might otherwise run onto other clothes (or down my face or neck). Product description on Amazon site calls for washing in cold water to soften. I'd add to wash them to bleed off the color. I'm not complaining about bandanas, just alerting others. Size (27"x27") is what I needed. Regular bandanas are a bit small on my head when tied. Yes, as others have remarked, the material is a bit thin, but for my use, that is just fine.
