I would have preferred to get a brand that was compatible with other smart home products, but the only one I could find is more than I'm willing to pay! So I decided to try one of the inexpensive ones. I picked this one because it has 3 outlets compared to others with only one or two. All 3 outlets are individually controllable. You can turn each one on and off through the app, or set up a schedule for each one to turn on and off at a certain time on certain days. There's also other options to tie in other products and to automate certain processes, but I don't have anything else made by this company. I only want to control Christmas lights on a schedule. For this, it is definitely great! The outlet turns the decorations on and off exactly when I set them to.The app is simple, yet has a lot of menus. I just clicked through everything to explore the entire app, it took a few minutes to find how to set up a schedule but once I found it, it's not difficult. Setting up the app could be a problem for some people, you have to enter a phone number and email address to create an account, and enter a verification code in a 30 second time limit. Have someone help you if you aren't confident that you can do this! After making a new account, you have to add the smart plug to the app, then you can customize from there. It only works with 2.4Ghz wireless, no 5Ghz so bear that in mind. I don't have any problem with it getting a signal, there isn't a noticeable lag when using the app to control the lights. I've been using it for a couple of days now, and it has rained very hard. The rain has not affected the switch, it works exactly as I've set it to. The app has also been updated recently, so hopefully it won't be abandoned anytime soon. Somehow stop working, I mean I turn it on, then I couldn’t turn it off, and later couldn’t turn on. So I give up and I want to buy new one. Then I came across this one, and I give it a try. Worth every $$. Recommend to anyone. Easy to set it up. Works on home network, wifi but only 2.4Ghz. Looks like it’s the older generation or something, but these days routers have dual bands. Works perfect, all u need is download the app and control the plug with and smart devices. The app let u set up schedule, each socket separately and control together or individual. This is one of several no-name options that I've tried. This has one of the better apps and connection experiences.The good: - actually one of the better apps. Everything worked the first time and it looks nice. Most look terrible and are unreliable. - works with alexa. as responsive as anything. -3 individually controllable outlets for not much more money than alternatives that just have 1 outlet.The bad: - requires that you grant the app permission to read your phone's LOCATION even simply to configure a plug. There is no good reason for this, yet if you deny the permission, it complains and does not let you use your plug. Sharing location data with some random company is not a great idea, but this forces you to use the device you just paid good money for. - apps not well-vetted. The app in the Play Store has only ~7 reviews and ~1000 downloads. Similarly, the Alexa Skill required to connect it to Alexa has 0 reviews. So YMMV. - must be installed 1.4M above ground. The listing says suitable for damp locations as long as not directly immersed in water, but the fine print on the device itself goes further. It asks that device be installed 1.4M above ground. That's more than 4 feet, which is unusually high to have an outdoor electrical socket.Unlike other plugs, it has no indication that it needs to be oriented so that the plugs face down, as I've seen on others.
