Was impressed enough to try them three days later on a five- mile 3400' foot gain hike to beautiful Pine Creek Lake in Montana's Absaroka range.I found these to be a very good fit for me and rock solid on smooth and rocky dry trails, as well as boulder climbing. In addition, my soles (forefeet) are sensitive and these shoes treated them the best I've experienced in a long time, i.e., just enough softness in flex, combined with good overall cushioning (although a little thin under the toe pads). Coming back down, where sensitivity is invariably the greatest, I was rarely more than mildly uncomfortable, if at all, and afterwards my feet were fine, unlike with just about every other shoe I've tried in recent years.Just before starting down from Pine Creek Lake, a short, light rain and hail squall blew through. By then, these shoes had nearly 6 hrs trail time + 3 hrs hanging around the lake. The path out immediately put us on a large wet rock slab, and after a few steps I thought to myself, "Great, these are good on wet rock too." Then maybe four steps later, going down the same slab, I was flat on my back, the shoes having gone straight out from under me like skis on ice. I landed on hip, elbow and hand, the damage being a broken wrist (realized later). Wondering afterward if the cause had been an icy hail film, I tested the shoes (cautiously) for the next two hours on other wet slabs, boulders and relatively larger trail and streamside rocks, all with modest declines. Unfortunately, they slid immediately on everything - every time! Never seen anything like it in some decades of time on and off trail.Did I get a bad pair, part of a bad batch or run into a common problem, I don't know. But for now I'm wary of these for anything where wet rock surfaces might come into play. For other uses and conditions, I'd highly recommend them. But since they are advertised as a trail shoe, I owe it to others (and Ahnu) to give them one star for now.P.S. The black (and "mermaid brown") have been discontinued, but according to Ahnu the shoes are exactly the same as the current smokey brown model.Update: After some sanding and another 12 hrs on trail, I've found only two wet rocks so far that the shoes didn't slide down, and one of those was submerged. I hadn't realized it, but someone directly behind me says they also slid stepping onto rocks going up. Otherwise they remain very good on dry terrain, except for what still feels like some of skimping on either the rubber or the cushioning under the toes, where one pushes off. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ So far so good! *by M***. on Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2012* ...I like 'em. Only one weekend of hiking so far in them but they seem to hold up well. It's been rather dry in these parts lately so I can't say much about the slippery factor. Quality though, seems to be top notch. I ordered these Ahnu's after I tested out a pair of Merrell Ventilators which didn't ventilate or even stand up to one 6 mile day in the woods. The lugs were half ripped up and torn off. These Ahnu Moregas however have had two 8 mile day hikes and are no worse for wear. The break in period is pretty smooth so far. No signs of a hot spot let alone a blister. They grip the trail like velcro with my weight. Very little sliding even on some steeper slopes. Bottom Line...I like 'em. If your looking for a decent trail shoe, Give these guys a try! ### ⭐⭐⭐ Mediocre shoe - used to be better *by E***K on Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2016* These are ok. Ahnu seems to have cheaped out on the support and cushioning compared to the Moraga Mesh of several years ago. However, they're just a tad roomier in the width of the toebox compared to the old Moraga Mesh, which was a nice surprise. Overall, they are still a decent hiking/walking shoe with decent grip on wet rocks and loose gravel. They sure as heck grip a lot better than my Oboz Sawtooth, which greet any type of moisture like its black ice.
