The inside of the pan is 16 inches across. Maybe the "20.8" is listed to take into consideration ones hands on the handles take up additional oven space. **Q: Is it safe to use on the stovetop?** A: Yes. We chose this pan for two reasons:1: There is no non-stick coating inside, so the pan can go in a 500-degree oven safely.2: The bottom is completely flat. I used it on my glass cooktop to make gravy after the turkey was done and it worked well, because the entire bottom was in contact with the surface.I do not know how it would work on other types of stoves but it's thick and heavy, so I suppose it could work on a gas stove as well? **Q: Does anyone know the limit on the size turkey this pan can hold?** A: I am not sure what limit you are referring to, weight or size. The size is given as about 20 inches long by about 13 wide, the cuisinart mentions it is a 16 inch roaster but it can take a larger. This is a robustly made pan so I think it would probably take a large bird. Feels very sturdy to me. **Q: Is the aluminum in this bad for your health?** A: The aluminum is in the core. The outer walls are stainless steel. I don't think there is any scientific evidence to show leaching of the aluminum in any harmful amounts.
