"Country of origin" on Amazon is a way to deceive customers. **Q: What does 1040DegF mean?? How many degrees are these really oven safe?** A: Degree Fahrenheit. I doubt you cook anything a 1040 degF, unless you are melting metal but they are microwave and dishwasher-safe. Haven't cooked anything in the oven with them but they are heavy and thick you would need to contact the manufacturer to see how hot they can cook at. **Q: Are these hard to open/close?** A: No they are easy to open and close.
