Last summer it snowed on July 28th and it got down into the low 20's in the Absaroka Mountains where I was camping. My old Kelty 40F bag did not cut it. I would have been in big trouble without my down puffer jacket and pants. One week later I was roasting in the same bag. This year I decided to look for a more versatile, layering sleep system that was inexpensive, light weight and modular. I paired this fleece liner with a lightweight imported bag that cost about the same as this fleece bag. This liner is big enough for me at 6-1. I can use it as a bag zipped up, as a quilt partially open, or as a blanket unzipped. What I like most is that for about $36, I have a modular sleep system that takes up less space than my old bag and is 10F warmer. Unzips nicely to be used as a blanket as well. the zipper is durable and doesn't get snagged. We used this inside our sleeping bags on colder nights and in the morning as a camp fire blanket while making breakfast. We purchased 2 and the other was used as a dog blanket within the tent. They kept us and the dog warm. They fit nicely into the bag making it easy to repack. The size and weight is nice for fitting into a pack when hiking. The next trip we take will be in the summer and we will bring it as an extra blanket for the hammock.
