The Ace fixes that issue right off the bat - at $15 it's about half the price of similar SOG knives I've seen. First impressions are good. It's a light blade for its size, and its design is a simple, no-nonsense one that I find very appealing. There are no questionably-necessary skull crushers/glass breakers, nor 50 different attachment points for the sheath. It's a knife. A tool, plain and simple. It'll cut rope, fish skin, and deer hide without noticeable dulling. If you want something to defend yourself with, I'm sure it'll do that pretty well, too. As far as criticisms go - so far, I don't have many. The edge it came with wasn't the best, but it didn't take much effort to get it honed. The handle gets a bit slick when coated in water, grease/oil, or blood, but that's true of most handles. Some jimping on the handle up near the spine of the blade would probably help.
