Review: Going Green! 40V Twin Force 20-Inch Mower, 390CFM Cordless Blower, and 13-Inch Cordless String trimmer. - Going Green! 40V Twin Force 20-Inch Mower, 390CFM Cordless Blower, and 13-Inch Cordless String trimmer. I have to say I was skeptical when I decided to purchase these GreenWorks tools. However, I have to say I am very happy with my purchases and very impressed with the quality of the equipment. All three pieces of equipment were very easy to assemble; I did not need to use the instructions that came with the equipment. There are some things to understand about these three pieces of equipment. Compared to gas powered equipment mower, blower, trimmer are all very very light. The lack of significant weight can be misleading and interpreted as a lack of power, however, this is untrue as all three pieces of equipment perform just as well as any gas-powered equipment that I have used. Pros and cons The pros to all three pieces of equipment do not very significantly. All three pieces of equipment are light, easy to maneuver, and appear to be very sturdy. The mower mulches grass significantly better than most of the gas-powered mowers I have used. I noticed a significant reduction in loose grass that was clumped and blown all over the sidewalk and driveway. One feature I particularly liked was the ability to start and stop almost instantly. This came in handy especially with the blower when needing to change direction. Finally, one of the pros is that the equipment is less intimidating than gas powered equipment. My wife ran the mower and the blower with ease considering this was the first time she ever cut grass. My mother came with two batteries and a charger while the blower came with one battery and one charger. This combination gave me one four-amp battery and two two-amp batteries. I have a small yard but the four-amp battery and one two-amp battery was more than enough to cut my grass, in fact the four-amp battery was completely used and the two-amp battery only used one green dot. The trimmer is as nice as any gas-powered trimmer I have owned. I especially like the edging feature, which works very nice. I cannot find too many cons to any of the equipment. Certainly, it takes time to learn how to work with new equipment however, none of the GreenWorks equipment appears to be overly complicated. I did read some negative reviews of the string trimmer. Understanding that you have to release the throttle and wait for the spool to click which indicates an advancement of the line is a key to understanding how to operate the trimmer. I find the included trimmer line is somewhat light and I will change it out once I use it all. Recommendation I would recommend this equipment anybody who desires equipment that is easier to work with and wants to move away from using gasoline. I would eventually like to try the snow blower especially here in Pennsylvania during one of our typical winters. In closing I will say this if you are on the fence go ahead and go green you will not be sorry.
Review: Worth buying for the edger functionality alone! - I bought the Greenworks String Trimmer because I have batteries for other Greenworks tools (a mower and a chain saw) and my Black & Decker trimmers seem underpowered plus they're always running out of battery life. In the Greenworks String Trimmer, I'm getting a professional tool for the price of a homeowner tool since I already have the batteries. The trimmer is indeed far more powerful and capable than the Black & Decker, whipping through light brush with ease. But the edger, which i initially assumed was a gimmick, has sold me on the tool. Once you get the hang of it, it really works. For best results run it with the guide wheel next to the grass on the pavement. You can run the guide wheel on the grass if you need to but it's harder to get an even cut. Don't try to be perfect on first pass, especially if your lawn hasn't seen an edger in awhile. Keep it even, don't try to fight through thick thatch, then go back to work on the problem spots. Battery life has been excellent. I have an oversize (60 amp) battery which is not quite enough to mow my 1/3 acre yard. So far I've edged the entire property (and we have a corner lot with sidewalks on both sides) and whacked a whole lot of weeds and it's over half full. I've had none of the string feed problems others have mentioned; maybe that has been fixed. One worry: the edger guide wheel is plastic, and seems a bit flimsy for the work it has to do. I'm thinking of ordering a backup before the big tariffs hit. (Product is made in China.)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are extra batteries available for purchase?**
A: Hello Lou,

Yes, extra batteries are available for purchase. Here is the link to the compatible G-Max 40v batteries https://www.amazon.com/GreenWorks-29462-G-MAX-Li-Ion-Battery/dp/B00AW72XFQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1507209379&sr=8-3&keywords=G-Max+40v+batteries. If you have trouble with this process, please feel free to contact us at 1-888-909-6757 for assistance.

**Q: The string on mine stopped feeding and I can't pull any out either. Any ideas?**
A: I found this happens when I am weeding in cracks in concrete and the line is abraded quickly. I use the manual feed button the the bottom, but the manual states that the line auto advances with every pull of the trigger by 1/4.

**Q: I have the 40v green works chainsaw. I am assuming the battery will work in both?**
A: I have a lawnmower and pole saw and pole chain saw. They use the BAF704 battery (4.0AH). It will use other batteries that have a usb port on top.
This weedeater will not work with that battery.
This has become a major rub with me.
I invested in greenworks specifically because all the 40v tools would use the same battery.
Not true. And it’s hell to figure out what works with what because it’s closely guarded, and answers are vague from techs, like the one who answered here. “No” is a good answer when the answer is no. “Any gmax elite happy super wizard battery will work in this tool.”
True answer, but doesn’t answer the question.
“Will my battery BAF704 work in this tool?”
No. No it won’t.

If I had time, I’d take a look and check a guess I have. Gmax batteries have a model number that is all numbers. Max batteries have letters and numbers. I do NOT know this is the case, yet.
I’ll try to look it up when I get a chance.
Then, so long as the listing mentions max or gmax, I’d feel better about making a purchase since I’m already roped into this line.
I certainly won’t forget, I got tipped by the inordinate number of 1 star reviews.
Almost all of them were over battery compatibility.
It makes no earthly sense to me why they’d go through such trouble to get bad reviews.

**Q: I just bought the G-MAX 40V 19" 3-in1 Push Mower (#25223). Does this string trimmer use the same batteries?**
A: Over on the GreenWorksTools website, they seem to say Yes.
"Essentially, BAF724 is another model number for 29472 as they are both 40V 4.0Ah batteries"
"... can be used with all Greenworks GMAX, Max, or Elite battery models"

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not Bad; Could be better
*by J***E on September 22, 2020*

I have a small townhouse patio yard with a lot of ground cover and bushes. No grass. So I wanted a battery powered weed eater and after having really good luck with the greenworks blower it was a no brainer to try the trimmer. I must say it works well and the battery has more than enough charge to do what I need and then I put it in the blower. All on one charge. I have a bit of an issue with the weight, balance and string though. It is fairly heavy and it's been difficult to get a good balance. I've adjusted the handle, but still haven't hit a sweet spot. Also the string feed is really weird. I'm used to a bump and feed, but this feed only happens when you take your finger off the power. When you start back up it feeds a only a small amount. Basically you have to start & stop several times to get enough string out. Finally the string is super light weight and it'll break when it contacts almost anything harder than grass. I'm getting the hang of the feed and the string, but feel like these 2 issues should be addressed by the manufactuer in future products. Especially heavier string. All in all not a bad trimmer, but a couple of small things could make it a very good one
