It took me a few attempts to arrive at this point but the effort was worthwhile. If your Wiesner clamp slips off, get the surgical tape and wrap it. I change the tape every couple of weeks just for my own OCD need to clean stuff. This was my first clamp after TURP. I was treated for prostate cancer about four years go with seed implants. I used intermittent catheters for two years, but two hospitalizations for UTI made me consider alternatives. The instructions for this clamp are a little arcane and don't really address major "operational" issues such as PLACEMENT to avoid pinching and the absolute importance of DRYNESS of all "components". It goes on easily and I have worn it for a much as three hours or more. I can go anywhere and do pretty much anything when I have it on. It's a great confidence builder. I returned the first one because I was too dumb to figure out the tape wrap solution. The folks at Uriclak gave me the tape idea. The problem with the Wiesner turned out to be me, not the clamp, but the instructions could still be clearer. Wiesner sent a replacement for the first one at no cost to me. I continued to experiment with it and can now report that it works very well if you take your time in arriving at the correct number of wraps of surgical tape to get it to fit. (Having this treatment was absolutely the worst decision of my life (and I've made some whoppers) -- but that's a story for another day.) The leakage, just a few drops at a time but constant, forced me to use pads, double underwear and other cumbersome, annoying ways of trying to keep dry, but without reasonable success. So I tried a clamp -- my first choice was the Cunningham. Well, it worked okay, but it never was really comfortable. So I tried the Wiesner, and have been very pleased. I can wear it most of the day with reasonable comfort. (It's important to take frequent bathroom breaks to release backed-up urine.) No leakage; easy to apply and take off. Once it's on I can forget about it and stay dry. Just one piece of advice that's not mentioned by the manufacturer or in other reviews: I find that wrapping a small piece of soft tissue like Kleenex around the penis prior to attaching the clamp makes the wearing much more comfortable. LATER: After posting this review, I thought a comment for "newbies" to the idea of wearing an incontinence clamp might be helpful. I came to the idea of an incontinence clamp unwillingly -- it almost seemed barbaric. But the endless dribbling, wearing pads of one kind or another, drove me to it. The first time I put it on, I had visions of medieval torture devices and thought, what am I doing to myself? That frame of mind lasted about an hour or so. After one minute I had no sensation that anything was hanging on one of my favorite organs, and after a couple of hours, with DRY UNDERSHORTS, I realized I had found a valuable help in leading a normal life. (I'd like to reiterate one point I made in the previous paragraph: it helps to wrap a small piece of absorbent Kleenex (even a few squares of toilet tissue) around the penis. It has allowed me to work at my office without the worry of a leaking diaper or trying to find a private moment to change into a fresh diaper. It does seem to want to slip when I am physically active such as carrying trash to curb or yard work. That may be a result of positioning of the clamp. I will continue to experiment with that detail. A little discomfort, but it may be more psychological than physical. Definitely worth a try if a person is struggling with a high level of incontinence. Update: Have continued the use of the Wiesner Clamp for the past year plus due to incontinence. The clamp continues to work well enough for me to stay dry while working at the office and doing most activities around the house.as well as play golf. The clamp sometimes will slip and I wear a pad with the clamp in case of an occasional problem, but those are very seldom-happenings. I use a single tissue of toilet paper folded once to place under the clamp and this seems to increase comfort and decrease slippage. The pads do seem to want to start slipping a little more with usage. Perhaps due to washing and/ or normal wear. Their does seem to be a decrease in efficiency as they get older and I replace them when it becomes noticeable. I don’t believe you can just replace the pads. It is not the most comfortable way to function daily, but for me the slight discomfort is worth it to avoid the constant wet diaper and dripping. It is necessary for me to drain my bladder every hour and a half or so and always within a two hour period.
