In case you forgot, there is a part where Anne mentions confusing feelings about another girl. This graphic adaptation makes the entire read a little more enjoyable IMHO. The art is dang Beautiful. The flow and pace of the retelling, the accuracy, the gorgeous illustration, I can’t find anything wrong with this version. I am 30, and chose to buy this book and the “definitive version” of the original diary and read them at the same time. It is faithful, it honors and respects everything that Anne wrote. And it’s just lovely to look at. Any younger version of me would have gotten much less out of both of these. PLEASE don’t get your tiny child a book without reading it first and then complain about what’s inside for their sake! Some reviewers seem to have not read the definitive version, which is understandable, because it sure wasn’t available to me as a kid. I didn’t even learn about it until this year. She said those things! It’s not just someone imposing their agenda! No, she wasn’t a lesbian! Geez, guys. Teenage girls learn about bodies. A young girl briefly thinking “I wish I had a girlfriend” does not a certain lesbian make. We’ve all thought that at least once. Anne was an incredible and wise young person. We are blessed as humans to have her words. I read this work of art side-by-side with the original text, and was able to follow along easily the entire time.
