However I would imagine 2 balls would be sufficient as it knits up very quickly on large needles but this is all according to how wide and long you want the scarf to be. If you get your yarn from a shop no doubt you can put some by but if not I have always been able to request same ball lots. Good luck with the scarf which will definitely keep you warm this winter.
