It’s a tight fit on my Lowepro backpack (wide straps), but it mounts securely and compresses the strap cushioning for a perfectly flush fit on the backside (shoulder facing side) of the strap. Clipping the camera in is dead simple...slide it in until it clicks. Removing it is just as easy. I have Manfrotto tripods and heads with RC2 mounts, so this Dual Plate works with both the Clip and my tripod heads. Yesterday I went for a hike/climb on some rocky terrain and had my Sony A7 with the 12-24mm lens (heavy) locked into the clip. I took a hard fall going over a boulder and was able to catch myself, somewhat, by my forearms and sort of tuck and roll. It was a violent impact (says my arms and shoulders), but the clip held fast and saved an expensive lens. I can only imagine what would have happen to either the camera or lens if I had used a neck or should strap instead of this.
