I've read on a couple of posts here that it didn't work at all, right out of the package. So, when I received it a couple of hours ago, I immediately put it in the fridge for an hour, then the freezer for an hour. It worked. It wasn't digital accurate but close enough to 42F and 3F for my satisfaction. It will pick up your body heat. For me, this isn't much of a problem as it'll be outside of a wetsuit or mounted on my console. The only drawback is that the face isn't recessed and will undoubtedly become scratched or damaged with use.
