The final episode on the last disc of the second season didn’t play properly. There are no scratches or fingerprints on the disc so I don’t know why that episode wouldn’t play right.Outlander (2014–) starts off strong. The pilot episode is unique. I give it five stars. It didn’t remind me of any other show I’ve seen. I bought into the time travel through a rock incident because it was a one-time event at the beginning of this series. I give the first half, of the first season of this series, five stars, despite of it reminding me of Braveheart (1995) and Rob Roy (1995) at times. At the end of the first season the show turns sadistic, with torture, too much male nudity, and male on male rape. That’s why I give the first season four stars.Season two seemed like a season of Reign (2013-2017) and the third season was like a season of Black Sails (2014-2017). Long before the end of the third season I was tired of the two main protagonists and the lack of original storytelling. Basically, this series is a little bit of story, then an erotica scene with the two main protagonists, then a little more story, then another erotica scene with the two protagonists, repeat, ad nauseam. After the first couple of erotica scenes it’s like watching the same scene over and over. Very boring. And the series lost its way.The series started off as a show about a woman trying to get back to her own time and husband. Now it’s just an erotic romance novel with no purpose. The original goal has been abandoned so I’m abandoning the show. Which is why I give the second and third seasons three out of five stars.Other things that bothered me in this series include the revolving door time travel rock, which became unbelievable the more it was used. Jumping back and forth in time through a rock with pinpoint accuracy? If it was that easy to jump through time the landscape would be littered with accidental and intentional tourists. In the first two seasons the protagonists miss several opportunities to kill the bad guy, Black Jack, and the ghost of Jamie in the pilot episode is never explained or revisited. The over the top melodramatic acting and the overuse of erotica also bugged me.I found the opening sequence in each episode where the women dance around the time travel stones with original Bear McCreary music playing more entertaining than most of the episodes. McCreary has created the original theme music for more television shows I’ve watched and liked than any other composer.Three seasons with this series is more than enough. There’s so much good stuff out there to watch, so much better stuff . . . ### ⭐ Not quality discs! *by D***N on Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2019* Love the show, bu received BAD DISCS!!’ These are advertised as new, and come in sealed seasons cases, but they are definitely a cheap, substandard quality. I didn’t watch or open season one, because I bought it from another vendor, but season two has skips, places where it sticks and in one scene, it froze there- and when it resumed it it obviously skipped. But how much? I’ll never know! Any place that was done with a green screen background is very obvious, there are very obvious color gradients in many places. These are very low-quality!
