He was really impressed with the super lightness of this one, and my dog (22 lbs) really does forget he's attached. I've been using it successfully now for about a month. The only reason I'm not giving a 5-star rating is that you could get a rope burn from it if you're not careful. So, as with all of these long lines, be cautious in that regard and you, too, will love this one. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not off-leash. But free to run. My fox hound-mix gets as close to an off-leash run as she'll ever get with this. Be advised: wear sailing gloves with leather reinforced palms and learn the mechanics of rope handling. When rabbits, squirrel, deer, ducks, etc. take flight, the prey instinct in a high-drive dog that is exceedingly muscular and reactive can cause severe rope whip to face and torso, and burns to fingers or exposed flesh when unspooling and/or tangled around ankles. Only the most-vigilant handler should attempt routine open field exercise such as this with an animal whose genetics and power are worthy of respect. I weigh 205 lbs. and am 6'1" and am athletic and she is a "houndful." Not recommended for someone who doesn't match up to the physicality of the animal. Yes, dogs can play with each other while one is tethered to a long lead but it still requires tending to prevent high-speed entanglements. Always attach to a Freedom Harness (Martingale-type) at the shoulder. Never to a collar or to a leash that attaches at the dog's neck. There is some stretch with this cord that helps reduce shock of sudden jolts. Only wish it had a securing buckle on both ends. ### ⭐⭐ Too heavy to "trick" the dog *by R***H on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on November 8, 2014* Good product, but not the type of thing I thought it was, giving it 2 stars instead of one. This "line" is lighter than a typical leash, but not by much. It is well made and strong for it's size/weight, but I was looking for something to use specifically for recall training that was too light for the dog to notice - which by the title, description, and other reviews I thought for sure that's what this tool was intended to be. My dog tends to freeze up when I put her on a 20-30 foot leash because she notices the weight - and even though with a little conditioning she would move around on it, she still knew it was there, and because of that it recall training on it didn't improve her recall off lead. She's controlled off leash, but not perfect, so I wanted something she had no idea was even attached to grab the second she didn't respond to the "Come" command the first time I said it. To give you an idea of the size of this leash, I expected the metal end to be on the smaller side, to again, keep the dog from noticing it's presence. It's actually full sized, and the radius of the leash is more than half an inch, when I expected it to be a quarter of an inch or less. It is relatively strong and would work great for just a camping/hiking/unfenced yard tool for a dog that isn't reliable of leash, but if you're looking for something to make your dog reliable off leash, I wouldn't buy it, a dog with half a brain will know it's attached to a leash.
