**Q: Is the on/off switch on the cord or the lamp base?**
A: On the lamp base.

**Q: How long is cord?**
A: I believe the cord I’d about 8 feet.  Not sure.  I had no problem taking it from end table to the far end of my couch.  Try an extension cord if the cord isn’t long enough.  Hope that helps.
