And will continue to flash every few seconds until you catch a rat or you shut it off. **Q: Does this have a light on while set?** A: Yes **Q: I want to use this outside and i don't want it to make any beeping noise etc to bother the neighbors in the middle of the night. is it possible?** A: The beep is not that loud. Unless you have neighbors who are right next to you, I dont think they will hear it. You could always cover the trap with a box to help muffle the sound. The beeps are about 5 seconds apart if I remember since I only had ONE success with it. One squirrel and the rest kept stealing the bait. If you are going after gray squirrels, I would say forget this because they keep stealing the bait without getting zapped. If you are going after mice, then you may consider this since it some had success with this. Had to return 2 of them because the squirrels kept stealing the bait. For smaller rodents like mice it may work better. As many as 3 a day, most every time I check it there is one less rat in the world. Caught one so big I had to take the top off to get it out.The reason I bought this one over others is that it is both battery and AC powered. Some of the Battery ones are only good for a few kills, I would have gone through $50 in batteries so far. The good thing is that if it is placed where power is not available it will work on batteries. Considering purchasing a second one. When I first put this out, I didn't catch anything but face it.....rodents are smart and they avoid anything new. However, leave it out there in the same place for a few weeks and they get complacent. I live on the central coast of California and back up to a wooded area. We have everything in that wooded area; mice, rats, gophers, moles, voles, squirrels, etc. Plenty of hungry owls everynight but apparently, even they can't keep up with the population.So after a few weeks, I went outside and heard the beeping sound. Bingo. A very small mouse. I was a little disappointed because I was expecting a huge catch. My wife has nicknamed me the big game hunter. And then a few days later, I heard the beep and couldn't get there fast enough. Looked inside and what the heck.....a stupid snail.....yes a damn snail decided to go after the peanut butter. It crossed the plates and I had a gooey, sticky mess to clean out. Okay, the big game hunter is a little embarrassed. But then, I hear the beep again one morning. My hopes are not very high until I see one of the biggest rats that I've ever seen. Seems it wasn't a match for 7000 volts. Nice thing is there's no mess. Just tilt the trap into a bag, knot it up and then double the bag over again and knot it. Be sure to do this because I made the mistake of not bagging up the first one. After a few days in the trash bin, my wife empties the trash outside and when she lifted the lid, well.....it was pretty ripe.Long story short (oh, this has been long anyway), the trap has zapped 4 MONSTROUS Rats and 3 mice.....and yes a handful of stupid snails.....what's with them anyway??? I'm including a picture of my latest catch. Note how I stood beside the trap for size reference. My next thought was to install a pinhole camera into the end of this trap and make a youtube video...Can you imagine??? Yes, I don't have anything better to do......Okay, seriously, my friends around here were so impressed, they are ordering their own. I have a number of mechanical traps but this one has caught more in a month than all the others combined over a year. Order it.
