The rollers are adjusted independently. The template is somewhat flexible, so you can make it wide on one end and narrow on the other. Then you shave along the template.This product did work as advertised. My goatee was even on both sides.The mouthpiece did cause a slight gag reflex for me which was annoying. The template didn't fit flush to my face. I had to inflate my cheeks with air or push on the template before I shaved. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Finding your preference *by A***R on August 8, 2016* My boyfriend likes it a lot. He says it takes a bit to get what setting he wants it at. He ended up shaving to much so had to let it grow back out before trying again. So, I'd recommend to anyone buying to start with the largest setting first and trim off that first, then if it's not to your liking go to the next length, and continue until it's to your liking. It is a bit of work, but once you know where you like it set to then you don't have to keep growing out your facial hair and trying a different setting. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great little goatee template product *by O***K on December 4, 2017* This is the first product of this type that I purchased. It is quite handy and does a great job of achieving the desired result of my free-hand attempts (and frequent failures). I have used the template each time I've shaved over the past few weeks and I am pleased with the symmetry and well-shaped appearance of my facial hair.The template does have a few of drawbacks, however. 1-Users are limited in goatee shape. Before using the product, my goatee was shaped differently. All three guides on my template are adjusted out to the maximum setting but the template falls short of how I shaped my goatee before using the product. 2-The template does not lock in place once the guides are set. Users should be mindful of inadvertently adjusting the three guide settings with normal everyday handling. 3-The template cannot be designed to fit every face shape. The template does not fit as tightly under my chin as it does on my face. I still have to be careful when shaving under my chin to avoid a misshaped goatee.Even with the design shortcomings, this is still a great product and a huge improvement on my attempts to achieve satisfactory results without a template.
