Check the prong rack caps before using the dishwasher and make sure the tine cover caps fit firmly for the dishwasher rack. 3.Please push them on tightly to make sure that they fit snugly in case they come off.

Step 2: Once the caps are pliable (squeeze to test), quickly scoop out ONE CAP AT A TIME from the hot water, and wiggle it immediately onto the tip of the dish rack. Step 3: Repeat this process until all tips are covered. I had NO problems with the caps splitting or not fitting because I followed this process. And my dishwasher racks are no longer scratching up anything being washed. Since the caps come in a unit of 200, I have fixed up a number of friends and family with these caps and THEIR dishwasher racks are functioning better too. This is an inexpensive way to extend the life of your dish rack or cover the ends of any other wire racks you may have in your household. Great solution to my needs.

**Q: what are they made of?**
A: It's like a firm rubber. They slide right on and it's a snug fit. So they will not lift off.

**Q: Can i use these for fishing hooks?**
A: Are you kidding, they are meant to be used to cover the tips of various objects, screws, syringe tips, if you are going to cover a fishing hook, maybe but they will probably get caught on the barb.  I really don't think so.

**Q: Did anyone use “goop” as an adhesive before placing the tine cover over the rusted tine?**
A: No. I did not find it necessary. Mine fit firmly and rarely come off. They stay in place unless a glass gets wedged in tight against a tine. Then sometime come off as I remove the glass but they push right back on. I have used them for a couple years with good results. I recommend putting them on before rust begins to swell. Difficult to apply once rust has swollen.

**Q: I am hoping to use these to make the tines in my dishwasher longer. Are they sturdy enough for that?**
A: They are about 1/2 long and you might get by leaving them 1/4 above the tine.  You will need to glue them carefully because friction will pull them off if they are not secured in place.

I'm happy with them, they fit my dishwasher-rack prongs and weren't too difficult to install. The price was right too. I'm glad I didn't by the prong caps that are longer, because these fit just fine, and were probably less work to install. Bought the for the racks on my old dishwasher. Coating was pealing and starting to rust. Most of them stayed in place. For some strange reason they would pop off the upper rack. Would recommend as a fix.
