At first, I thought I'd made a mistake because the text is dense and assumes you know more than what is taught in most med schools (at least in the USA), but now that I'm doing my residency and have more background, I find this text indispensable.First, it's extremely difficult to understand pathology without a firm grasp of normal histology. This book offers an in depth overview without getting bogged down with too many details. It also gives an respectable review of gross anatomy, which has been very helpful for my grossing. The chapter on the cervix, for example, has helped me deal with my hospital's volume of cervical cancer specimens.Second, the hard copy comes with an image bank that's been godsend for setting up my case presentations. It's not for publications, of course, but doing the practice presentations for the rest of the team during academic hours has been much, much easier because I have a trustworthy source for images. And they're crisp, beautiful image with excellent explanations. I'm not sure where else I could look for annotated pictures of normal histology online. Most journal articles focus on pathology slides.So it's pricey, but worth every penny. Considering that I'll be using this text for at least the next four years, it's 100% worth it. ### ⭐ Great textbook, terrible online access *by J***T on Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2022* The textbook is great.I just called customer support because the book disappeared from my account on the LWW website. The rep told me that access expires after three years. On the inside cover of the book is written: "Your online access is valid for the life of the print product." ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Big but essential *by A***D on Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2013* Thank you amazon for the prompt delivery. This book is indispensable for both practicing pathologists and pathologists on training. I think the editors could bring more attractive illustrations to the new edition, otherwise the pictures are superb and efficient.
