We eat a lot of Indian food that stains terribly so we wanted maximum clothing coverage for toddler mealtime. It is thin, absorbent canvas, presumably for easel painting, but it works great as a bib. The neck strap is easy to cinch up and loosen using the neck strap "buckle". We loosely tie the side straps around his back. Both aprons fit, and are hanging next to mine in the kitchen. They LOVE them, and somehow having an apron makes cooking feel official. I like that these are actually functional, because the kids do help with dinner and mess up their clothes. These are water resistant and easy to wash - and keep the kids from staining their school clothes or having to change clothes to help with dinner. I also liked the animal prints. It's hard to find aprons that are gender neutral or for boys, which is annoying. I teach my daughter and two sons that everyone is responsible for housework; not just girls.
