I place one layer of marbles on the bottom and then 1.5 inches roughly of media and then another layer of marbles, etc. **Q: Does this empty cartridge have the built in sediment filter.** A: Yes, at the bottom, make sure you spray the sediment filter before re-packing with new media to ensure consistent flow. **Q: How many times should i refill this empty cartridge? forever? or limited 2 or 3 times refills? i need to know before purchase it. what micron is this?** A: You refill it as many times as you want. It comes with a top sponge that you need to rinse out. You can add extra sponges on top if you like. I've bought several and they fit perfectly.
