However, I got fed up with the ever increasing prices, and the blades losing their sharpness after 1 week of shaving, despite claims that they are good for 4 weeks! So I bought a closed comb double edge safety razor, a badger bristle shaving brush and a Proraso shaving bowl with soap (lasts for a very long time) and the Proraso pre shave cream. I also bought 100 Derby Premium blades made from Swedish steel for under £9. Each blade gave me 4 close shaves, cost 9p! Compare that to the price of a Gillette cartridge blade! As a result, I got a much smoother, closer shave, with no nicks or cuts. If you are unfamiliar with how to shave with a double edge safety razor, look on You Tube. There are several very good tutorials. It is important to take your time and enjoy the experience. If you are in a hurry, don't shave this way, and use an electric shaver, even though the closeness of the shave will not be anywhere near as good. After 12 months of shaving with my closed comb razor, I decided to progress to an open comb (more aggressive) razor, as I felt confident enough to use it after a nick free 12 months with my milder closed comb razor. I therefore bought this Fatip razor, to match the rest of my Italian shaving kit. By preparing the face first, and taking my time, letting the weight and balance of the razor do all the work, with no pressure, I had the smoothest, closest shave ever. I can't speak highly enough of this razor, I am so pleased that I moved to an open comb razor. However, like me, you might prefer to get used to shaving with a double edge safety razor by purchasing the Fatip closed comb razor initially, and see how you get on. I also recommend Proraso After Shave Balm to complete the ultimate shaving experience. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Go very slow *by B***1 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 August 2021* Four stars rating for a fantastic little open Comb razor. Perfect size for my small hand and lightweight to hold.Very old fashioned looking Italian style and I'd place it in the same range as my Mercur razors.I'd say that a maximum of three passes is what is needed for a very close shave and being honest....a slow and light touch to the skin is important because the blade is very sharp....( Razor sharp).Plenty of lather soap too finished of with a nice menthol balm like Porasso should do it. 4 stars. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Italian style *by J***B on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 January 2020* My first open comb de razor, Italian style.
