Review: Convenient and quality pu'er - Pu'er tea is earthy, and I cannot emphasize that enough. I would stray away if you are new to teas because it tastes like it is water brewed from a humid basement floor in the tropics. That said... this is a wonderful pu'er tea from Mockrand. You can taste the quality, and is great when paired with a sweetener of your choice. Better for your health, I recommend some local raw honey. The earthy taste is hard to describe, but personally I would use grassy and soil aromas, and this one is clean. No chemical, mold, or other off-putting odors to speak of. The entire thing comes in a sealed pull tab plastic container with oxygen eater to maintain freshness. A must for any pu'er lover, or if you want some diversity in your tea collection. It is perfect for entertaining guests or enjoying with your household. I've had pu'er tea a few times in the past, but never considered buying it. It was "not my cup of tea" by flavor profile, if I may. However, that was a long time ago and I am glad I had a chance to try brewing my own at home thanks to the Vine program. And Mockrand makes it very convenient by individually formed disks of fermented black tea leaves and wrapped in decorative paper. I highly recommend it if you are open minded about trying pu-er tea.
Review: Smooth & mild aged pu’er; virtually illegible information label - This 250g package of fermented pu-er tea contains individual pre-wrapped 1” bird’s nests / bowls, which is a common way to store and serve aged tea, especially meant for several steepings in pots rather than a single cup. • Packaging & information: Everything comes in a resealable, twist-top, plastic container that has an aluminum, single-use pop-top seal for initial freshness. The front label does not note how many servings it contains, only 250 grams total, but I counted mine out to be 43. The information label is almost illegible and is missing some pretty common information (no servings, serving size, or method of preparation). • Tea: This particular pu-er tea is steeps into a dark amber color and is very drinkable: smooth, woody & mild, with no aftertaste. Like most teas, the aroma is stronger (woodier and earthier in this case) than the taste. For the price, I think this is definitely a good value for the number of pots you can get out of it. It’s nothing amazing, but it’s a good mild, aged pu-er that I can keep drinking.

## Features

- Ingredients: MOCKRAND Pu'er Tea is produced in Menghai County, Yunnan Province, China. It is compressed into convenient mini tea cakes for easy brewing and storage.
- Taste: This tea is crafted by compressing ripe Pu'er tea with a small amount of “glutinous rice aroma” leaves. It offers a velvety richness, releasing deep woody and nutty aromas with a subtle hint of glutinous rice fragrance, leaving a long, gentle aftertaste.
- Processing: Benefiting from the pristine ecological environment of Menghai tea mountains, with unpolluted water sources and soil, unique tea varieties are cultivated. Through traditional fermentation and aging techniques, they develop the profoundly complex flavor layers characteristic of premium ripe Pu'er tea.
- Brewing Guide: Each mini tea cake is perfectly portioned for a single infusion, requiring no tools to break apart. Each cake yields 6 to 8 infusions, releasing a rich, smooth tea flavor even after multiple steeps. You may also add rosebuds or honey for added flavor.
- Convenient Packaging: Sealed in jars with individually wrapped cakes for easy carrying and extended shelf life. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Smooth & mild aged pu’er; virtually illegible information label

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rich Earthy Flavor, Good for 1-2 Steeps
*by C***L on February 15, 2026*

I love to drink black tea in the morning, and Pu'er tea is one of my favorites. This MOCKRAND Pu'er Tuo Cha came in a nicely sealed plastic jar containing 39 compressed cakes, nicely wrapped and weighing 8.81oz/250g (which is more than their description of 32-36 compressed cakes). I use a 12 oz teapot. For my first brew, I used half of a compressed cake as an experiment. This half cake provided an earthy, smooth flavor profile, and when I steeped it a second time, it still had good flavor. For my second brew, I used the whole compressed cake, which produced a richer, bolder, earthier, and smoother flavor that I preferred. After two steeps it still had good flavor, but the third steep—which I tried as an experiment—lost most of its taste. Going forward, I'll only steep it once or twice since three steeps produce more tea than I need. I enjoyed it!
