I had been buying the charcoal bristled brushes made by Colgate, but wanted to try out a biodegradable variety. I don't use charcoal bristles for whitening or anything - i like that the bristles are soft enough to brush my gums as well as my teeth, but firm enough to still get all the plaque off.One word of advice - don't leave the handles where they will be wet most of the time. They can start smelling funky, and i'm sure that these can't be sanitized as well as plastic-handled toothbrushes.
