I never really knew if it would work when the time came. Last night, we had a heavy rain storm and the electricity went out for about 4 hours. This water-powered backup sump pump kicked in and worked like a charm!!! BTW, a couple of my neighbor's 12V battery backup systems didn't work. Am I happy with the product? My basement gets a significant amount of water during heavy rains. Our basement flooded twice on our old 1/3hp pump due to it not being able to pump out as much water as was coming in. I now have a 3/4 hp pump that is more than capable along with the Basepump. The Basepump is powerful enough to clear the sump crock during moderate rain, but it wouldn't be enough to stop a flood in a heavy rain. Even in a heavy rain though, it does give more time for the power to come back on before you would flood.Installation was easy, the "plastic" parts are solid and well made. I agree with others on the bulkyness of the float switch....this should be redesigned.One important thing to consider, these types of pumps are not failure proof. If a fitting breaks, or the float switch fails to shut off the pump after the crock is emptied, you are essentially turning on a garden hose and letting it run. A neighbor of mine a few doors down had his pump go on (not this brand) during a power outage and it failed to shut off, it was a week and a half later before he noticed it which resulted in an $1,800 water bill. Because of this, these types of water powered backup pumps are against many city's building code. Certainly utilize the alarm that comes with the pump and set it so that it goes off BEFORE the pump does and make sure you check that it properly shuts off when its finished pumping. And its always a good idea to test it (along with your main pump) monthly. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Not as easy to install as advertised *by L***H on Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2023* Our plumber recommended this pump as he believes that it is one of the best on the market available and has installed over 30 of them and said they are the most reliable pump sold. When installing the pump, several of the fittings from the factory leaked and he had to disassemble and re-do some of the gaskets.
