All you need is standard white craft glue, a straight edge and a razor or X-acto knife to cut to size. I tiled my bathroom in less than two hours. They are very easy to work with to install. They are like gluing large sheets of styro egg carton up but about twice as thick as an egg carton (the flat lid part not the egg cups, that is). They look sort of cheesy until you paint them if you buy the plain ones, but once you finish them they are surprisingly beautiful. I can't speak for the pre-finished ones as I bought the unfinished ones and painted them. The look improves dramatically if you use a good surrounding trim and caulk all seams well. They are a lot of visual bang for the buck and easily mastered DIY with basic tools and skills. I wanted to share pictures to encourage others that you can get a great result on a budget with this product. I used White Lightning 3006 adhesive $2 a tube in caulk tubes - worked great. This project came in at about $100 total including tiles, trim, and adhesive/caulk. I already had the paint. I'm trying to think of way to remove these at a later date for a rental home.** A: No, these will not work as a nail on or staple on application as they are specifically a glue-up installation ceiling tile. A temporary (non permanent) installation can be however achieved using a 3M double sided tape. It works remarkably well and can be removed at a later time without any damage or marks to the ceiling. Such as poster putty?** A: you have to scrap popcorn celing away from were you put your glue or they won,t stay up. I used loctite this held tiles but paint tiles before you put them up or you will see the glue thru the tiles,did 3 bathrooms with the tile, they look cheap, wouldn,t recomend them? **Q: Can these be used in a bathroom with a shower?** A: The ceiling tile has been in my bathroom for 5 years and it still looks like new. I did paint each tile before I installed it. **Q: what glue did you use??** A: The glue to hold the faux ceiling tiles is the same premixed mastic that is used to hold ceramic tile. It is called AcryPro Ceramic tile adhesive made by custom Building Products and is sold at any Home Depot or Lowe's. The application could not be easier, simply put five teaspoon sized blobs on each tile, one on each corner and one in the center and the just push it in place on the ceiling, making sure that the blobs on the four corners are far enough in so that they do not squish beyond the edges of the faux tile. I put them over the top of the old Armstrong one-foot squares. They went up quickly, easily with nine little globs of glue on a tile. Its no trouble to cut them with a ruler and xacto knife. I was able to carefully remove and replace one while the glue was wet, without breaking it. There was plenty of time for adjusting and tweaking.Take the time to plan out your tile placement and you really can't screw this up. They are very slightly longer in one direction than the other, so try to use them all facing the same way. These are SO MUCH BETTER THAN THEY LOOK IN THE PICTURE, OR EVEN IN THE BOX. Up and painted, they look gorgeous.
