## Questions & Answers

**Q: What's the difference between version 3.2 and 3.1?**
A: Manufacturers response is bogus. I have 3.1 and 3.2. 3.1 is about six months old and I have had almost no problems with it. 3.2 is total garbage. Never cleaned well. Always looks dirty. The comb set up makes it so it doesn't rake well. It jammed every day until it died last week. It is 3 months old. Do not waste your money on 3.2! (And the blue color shows all the cat litter dust so that was just stupid design).

**Q: I had a littermaid in 2009, when it was relatively new. at the time, it really only worked well with littermaid litter. is that still true?**
A: I'll be honest. I have a Scoop Free and a LitterMaid. 3 cats, 1 weirdo likes litter vs crystals. The older LitterMaids had stronger motors and worked great. I hate the new one, the motor seems weak. It works better with the lightweight litter. I like the waste receptacle which ScoopFree doesn't have.

**Q: i am live in saudi arabia and i wanna know what is the electric current of this litter box is it 220 kv or 110 kv ? Can you tell me**
A: In the US. It’s a common 110 plug.

**Q: What is the best type of litter to use with this?**
A: I use "light" clumping litter but dont go passed the lowest line. And every day or so add a little more litter.

Perfect product if you use the right cat litter

*by Ö*** on Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2019*

It's the best pet product I've ever had! I have two cats that are 11 years old and I've tried many different cat litter boxes, including semi-automatic ones. I had to clean all types of them daily, otherwise they were smelling and my cats didn’t want to use them. But this product saved my days: I didn’t clean the litter for a week, it was still clean and wasn’t smelling.(Update, 8 months after the original comment: It still works perfectly with non-clumping silica cat litter for a week without cleaning!)The negative experiences I read in Amazon were about the noise, disposable receptacles, and stuck litter on the rakes. Here are my experiences with those matters:The noise is not more than a hairdryer, so it does not disturb me much. The disposable receptacles could be a problem if you always have to buy them. But it is not necessary because you can reuse them by using bin bags in them. I can recommend you to put double receptacles and lids to make it more stable. The most common problem was stuck litter in the rakes and at the bottom of the box, also the motor struggling to move forward through the clumped litter. I tried 6 different cat litters to have the best results and 2 of them didn’t have those problems at all. Those two were light-type litters, one is non-clumping silica and another is clumping plant-based litters. Any brand of non-clumping silica and/or clumping plant-based litters work very well. Here are my experiences:-Clumping bentonite litter: The litter could be stuck on the rakes and you need to clean the rakes and the bottom. But feces and urine go into the container, although it may force the motor. It is necessary to clean the bottom by emptying the box usually. But it doesn’t smell except the stuck ones on the rakes. As a result: not very practical.-Non-clumping bentonite litter: It is stuck a little bit on the rakes, but a lot of on the bottom. Because urine doesn’t go in the container and it does not absorb the smell much, it smells a lot. As a result: not recommended.-Clumping plant-based litter: It doesn’t stick in the rakes or on the bottom, neither forces motor while working because of lightness. It works perfectly on the box. However, the light pieces of the litter were carried on the paws of my cats to the other rooms, so I had to give up using it. As a result: recommended.-Non-clumping plant-based litter: Similar to the non-clumping litter. Because urine doesn’t go in the container and it has a low absorbing capacity, it smells. Also, it is stuck a little bit on the rakes. As a result: not recommended.-Clumping silica litter: Although it's supposed to clump and take the urine in the container, it doesn't clump. The fine silica pieces get stuck on the bottom because of the urine, and get harder and higher in time so force the rakes. It is quite hard to clean the bottom from the stuck litter. As a result: not recommended.-Non-clumping silica litter: Although it doesn’t clump and urine isn’t taken in the container, it works perfectly! The litter doesn’t smell up to a week for two cats. Because the litter pieces are light, it doesn’t force the motor, so motor work perfect for feces. After a week, I emptied the container bag and the whole litter. There was no suck in the rake or on the bottom. As a result: highly recommended!I can recommend to empty and clean the whole box and the rakes weekly for the best performance of the product.(I had a single cat version for my two cats (because of the limited space) and it works for two cats very well. The first product I had was not working properly, the motor stops working in the middle of cleaning. But when I sent the video of it to the customer service, I was immediately sent a new product and the new one works very well. This is as important as the product’s function for me. Without very good customer service of Amazon and LitterMaid, I wouldn’t buy a new one and I wouldn’t use it.)

    Bring Back Classic LitterMaid

*by M***K on Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2021*

OMG! This LitterMaid is more work than it is worth. I am sorry, but the old version was so much more efficient. The rake should have blades that go all the way to the sides of litterbox. The blades are also spaced to far apart. More blades are needed. There is not enough litter in the box, cats need around 3 inches to dig, and cover. The old version from 20 years ago was so much better. It worked purrfectly from day one, no problems at all. No sticking in midair. No leaving wet cat waste stuck in blades or on bottom of litter box. Need more litter in bottom of litter box. The old version even came with a small brush to keep track and sensors clean. Because they must be kept clean in order for the rake to run properly. I realize it has been 20 years since I used a LitterMaid because of living with someone who was allergic to pet dander. They passed away in 2014, now I have two cats again. Now my health is not as it was. My old excuse was I worked all the time in the old days, and LitterMaid was wonderful. But this new version is unreliable. I was going to buy another one because i have two cats, but I will try another brand. I am so heartbroken it is not as good as it used to be. This single cat Littermaid should be so much better. Somehow LitterMaid cut corners on efficientcy, and reliability. This is just a awful product. Sorry to be so brutal, but my money from Soc.Sec. is much less then when I worked. Errors like this hurts my everyday living. This single cat LitterMaid is not even worth $1.00. Shame on you for making a cheap piece of Cat waste. Please let others see my review. Maybe another person who has little money won't hurt their purse trying to make their life easier with this product. Darn it! I just knew LitterMaid was dependable and safe to purchase. I am so disappointed!10/17/21 WELL! This LitterMaid continues to wear me out. I just shut it down! It took me half an hour just to clean the cat waste from everywhere except the litter bin. This piece of cat waste is horrible! I got it as clean as I could get it for the video. I was to embarrassed to let you see the mess it made. The LitterMaid I owned back around the year 2000 was a dream. Never! Never had problems like this. Wet cat waste was smeared all over the sides and rake. None was in the litter bin. I still need to clean some from the back left side. I am to old for this mess. $80.00 down the drain. And being on Soc. Sec. This hurt! LITTERMAID, YOU SUCK!UPDATE 11-11-21, WELL! For a LitterMaid self cleaning litter box this is a shameful product. LitterMaid was a dependable product almost in every Cat household for many years. It was a necessity in my home because of shift work. I knew that my Classic from year 1999 was working dependably while I was at the hospital. This item today is not any of the above. It does not remove the wet waste very well, problems with wet waste sticking to bottom, and or crumbling, therefore waste not removed. The new design is the problem. You must have 3-4 inches of litter in litter bed. Why did they change the design? Waste of money. Not dependable. Bring back old design. Be number 1 again.UPDATE!!!! 12 -3-21. I used to work a lot of different shifts. But the LitterMaid in 1999 was a true Gem. It worked purrfectly from day one. Why they changed the design to these new blue ones has my brain in a spin. Their Corncob Litter I just purchased says to put 3-4 inches in litter box. Max line I think is 1.5 inches. Not sure, but maybe 1.5 inches. So how is the new Blue supposed to work. No matter which litter you use it is designed to fail.

    3 years and still going

*by S***S on Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2023*

I bought two of these 3 years ago, and they still work fine. If you don't pay attention and overfill them (user error), which is easy to do, they can pile up the litter and get stuck. I imagine that they are as easy to clean as any automatic litter box. They are a little noisy and I can hear them from the next room.I bought a 3rd one two years ago and had to return in because it was used and BROKEN, not new like advertised (There was litter in it, and it wouldn't complete a cycle without getting stuck... I never even put litter in it).The replacement was new and did work fine. We still have that one too. It's really easy to dispose of the waste. We line the receptacles and toss that so that we can keep costs down. All in all a decent machine if you pay attention to the instructions and dispose of the waste regularly.
